Our Commitment to Privacy: New Cookie Consent and Data Transparency

Pathos Panel Team·Feb 13, 2026

Privacy isn't just a compliance checkbox — it's a trust signal. In an industry that literally asks people to share their opinions and personal data, how we handle privacy defines whether panelists trust us enough to participate honestly.

Today, we're rolling out enhanced privacy controls across the Pathos Panel platform, including a new cookie consent system, improved data transparency, and strengthened user privacy settings.

The New Cookie Consent System

Every visitor to the Pathos Panel platform now sees a streamlined cookie consent banner. We designed it to be minimal and unobtrusive — a small notification in the corner of the screen rather than the aggressive full-page overlays that have become the unfortunate norm on the internet.

The banner gives visitors a clear choice: Accept or Decline. We believe privacy choices should be simple, not buried in 47 categories of toggles that nobody reads.

When visitors accept, we use cookies to improve their experience and understand how the platform is used. When they decline, we respect that choice fully. Essential cookies (like the ones that keep you logged in) continue to work regardless, because they're necessary for the platform to function.

Why This Matters for Research Companies

If you're running a research panel, your panelists are trusting you with their opinions, demographics, and personal information. Every touchpoint either builds or erodes that trust. A platform that handles cookies transparently signals to panelists that their data is taken seriously at every level — not just in the surveys themselves.

For our clients operating in regulated markets, the cookie consent system also helps with GDPR, PIPEDA, and CCPA compliance. The consent state is stored per-user and can be audited if needed.

Broader Privacy Enhancements

The cookie consent banner is part of a larger privacy initiative that includes:

Enhanced privacy settings. Panelists have granular control over their privacy preferences directly from their dashboard settings. They can manage what data is shared and how it's used.

Comprehensive privacy documentation. Our Privacy Policy and GDPR information pages have been updated to reflect current practices in clear, plain language — not legal jargon.

Secure-by-default architecture. All authentication flows use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted sessions, CSRF protection, and secure cookie handling.

Our Privacy Principles

We operate on three simple privacy principles that guide every product decision:

1. **Collect only what's needed.** We don't hoard data for hypothetical future use.\n2. **Be transparent about what we collect.** If we're collecting it, we're telling you about it.\n3. **Respect user choices.** When someone says no, we mean it.

Trust is the foundation of market research. We intend to earn it at every layer of the platform.
